Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

When I cried to the Lord He heard my voice, from them that draw near to me; and He humbled them, who is before all ages, and remains for ever: cast thy care upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee.  Hear, O God, my prayer, and despise not my supplication; be attentive to me and hear me.

Sung Mass

Feast of St Oliver Plunkett, Bishop & Martyr

It has been 434 years since the martyrdom of St. Oliver Plunkett at Tyburn on the 1st of July 1681 (in the Julian calendar). His feast is celebrated on the 11th of July in the Roman calendar, which is the date of his martyrdom under the Gregorian calendar which was of course only adopted in England in 1752. He was also the last Catholic martyr to die in England.

In celebration of St. Oliver Plunkett and in thanksgiving for the past years work in Kilkenny under his patronage, there will be veneration of a 1st Class relic of St. Oliver Plunkett after the Sung Mass on Saturday 11th July
